If you as a player try to get by using only this you will 50% of the time get blown by, mess up a shot contest, miss a block you shouldn’t have etc. The auto defense button is perhaps where I have my biggest complaint. It would help to have the more advanced tutorials for moves in the help section of the game as they give you the basics but not how to, say, do a spin jumper or a step back three. Overall it’s the same as regular NBA 2K21 in it’s uses. The dribble/shoot actually feels pretty responsive and I have little to complain about. The right joystick changes from an auto defense/contest/block when you are defending to the standard dribble/shoot stick 2K players are used to. Simple things that on a controller would never happen to experienced players and can leave a strong sense of frustration as you watch a G league level player dunk on your 99 overall my career player. The left virtual joystick has a very small range from walk to sprint that can cause the player to turnover the ball or get blown by several times a game. Unless you are using a controller, and especially for long time nba 2k players, the touch screen can feel very unresponsive. This is where my first gripe of sorts comes in. Speaking of controls the game allows you to use a virtual touch screen set up or a 3rd party controller, Xbox or PlayStation controller. However Arcade Edition gives you much greater free range over in game controls, camera etc. Players of NBA2K Mobile will probably be the most used to the controls and layout as a lot of the gameplay is very similar. You have quick matching and matching between friends, black top, and the most popular my career mode. NBA 2K21 Arcade Edition is a port of what you expect current NBA 2K21 to be. That being said I want to give my personal review of the good, the bad, and the ugly of the first 2K game to not have micro transactions in years. To try Apple Arcade, open the App Store and tap the little joystick icon at the bottom of the screen. So I’ve been playing this game non stop on my iPhone since it came out and it’s been a ride to say the least.
